We found vacation Israel lodging to be varied, most unique and interesting. Whether you want the very best in 5 star luxury or a very authentic bedouin experience, choices range from hotels, apartments and B&B's, to hostels and cheap hotels. Stroll a sandy beach outside a private villa or milk a goat in a mountain kibbutz. Whether you're single, newlywed, on a family vacation in Israel or a grand adventure, options abound for sleeping in Israel.
There is much to choose from but below is a listing of vacation Israel accommodations that we have personally experienced over the years:
Private Vacation Israel Rental Home - Tripadvisor 5*; 4 Zamenhof St., Jerusalem. To book call this U.S. phone: 516-515-4432; 3 bdrm/2 bath, sleeps 6.
This beautiful house is full of old world character with high domed ceilings, niches, a well-appointed kosher kitchen and a beautiful courtyard for enjoying morning coffee. It's very well located just a few minutes walk to Independence Park, shopping on Ben Yehuda Street and the Mamilla, and all the Old City attractions.
Beit Norvegia House - 26 Hatzfira St., Jerusalem; firstname.lastname@example.org; Phone 00-972-2-563-8923.
Meaning House of Norway, this hostel/B&B, is located in the German Colony in Jerusalem. Operated by wonderfully friendly Norwegian volunteers, offering safe, clean and simple accommodations; shared bathrooms - not my favorite, but do-able; and a delicious family-style breakfast and comfortable lounge for relaxing during your vacation Israel. We loved the beautiful neighborhood location and the roof-top deck with great views of the city. This is a very good option for smaller budgets.
Little House in the Colony - TripAdvisor 3.5*; www.jerusalemhotel.co.il ; 4a Lloyd George St., Jerusalem; contact them through their website.
Wonderful German Colony neighborhood location. Small but clean rooms w/bath. Friendly and helpful staff; nice breakfast. Be aware that some of the rooms, like ours was, are located above a cinema and are very noisy at night until the movies end. Other rooms are located away from the cinema and are much quieter. If you're sensitive to noise, I recommend you ask for one of the quieter rooms or check out Little House Hotels for information about their other "little houses": Little House in Rehavia and Little House in Baka.
Just inside the Jaffa Gate in the Old City; Ottoman style architecture with domed ceilings, stone floors, treed courtyard and secret garden. Comfortable, clean, secure rooms, excellent breakfast included, friendly volunteer staff. Walk to Mamilla shopping, Wailing Wall, The Temple Institute, Arab markets, David's Tower Museum. Ben Yehuda St. is about a 20 minute walk. This is a great option for your vacation Israel and is reasonably priced. I admit, it's my current favorite!
Eshel HaShomron, Ariel - TripAdvisor 3.5*; Hashomron Junction, P.O. Box 1822, Ariel 44837; email@example.com
Located 45 minutes east of Tel Aviv, near Ariel, in the beautiful hills of Samaria, the heart of Israel, this hotel features large, clean, simply furnished rooms and baths, balconies with views of the countryside, the city of Ariel or the large pool set in the beautiful landscaped grounds featuring an amazing waterfall; beautiful dining room serving a truly delicious breakfast and dinner with great service. There is a Biblical garden tour on-site depicting various stories from the Bible. I wouldn't consider this hotel a 5*, in the normal sense, but it has so many wonderful attributes that make it worth the stay.
Yes, this hotel is located on the other side of the Green Line in Samaria and has extra security for the hotel itself. Owners Menachim and Tova and their manager, Tuvia, went above and beyond in their determination to provide the best service possible. We always felt safe here and will definitely return.
Inbal Hotel, Jerusalem - TripAdvisor 4.5*; 3 Ze'ev Jabotinsky St., Liberty Bell Park, Jerusalem; phone from U.S. 1-877-443-7443 or Israel - 972-2-675-6666.
Very nice, with all the amenities you'd expect in a modern upscale hotel - pool, spa, fitness. Located adjacent to Liberty Bell park, most popular sites are within a 20-30 minute walk and just a short walk from Yemen Moshe and the Mishkenot Sha'ananim Artist's Colony. Lots of great restaurants and shops are also nearby.
Mount Zion Hotel - TripAdvisor 4*; 17 Hebron Rd., Jerusalem
A hospital in the 1880's, this beautiful stone structure has been transformed into an amazing hotel with views of the Old City, the Hinnom Valley and beyond. Lush landscaped grounds and pool, spa and fitness room, gift shop, large dining room and comfortable lounge w/spectacular views. Rooms are spacious, unique and newly renovated. The service was very good and breakfast was a king's spread with all types of breads, rolls, salads, smoked salmon and more. This is a beautiful place to stay making your vacation Israel very comfortable. Located just outside the city near the Jaffa and Zion Gates to the Old City; walk to Menachem Begin Center, King David's Tomb, the shops and restaurants on Emek Rafaim St
Ruth Rimonim Hotel, Safed, Israel - TripAdvisor 3.5* ; Artist's Colony, P.O. Box 1011, Safed, Israel.
Truly unique, this hotel is situated overlooking spectacular views of Mt. Meron, in Safed, just north of the Sea of Galilee. It looks like it was cobbled together by an imaginative artist. Just like the Artist's quarter in which it's located. Vine-covered courtyard nooks for coffee, secluded crannies for a quiet read. All rooms are individually decorated, some with view terraces. Cozy dining room with the same great view, great buffet style meals (breakfast included in the price), excellent service; spa, pool, fitness center. The hotel is close to all the artist alleys and shops, restaurants and coffee shops. With all this hotel's excellent points, I have to say our room experience was a little less than expected - very sparse, view through a tiny window over the roof-top, and the stairs were everywhere and difficult with our luggage. Even so, on our next vacation Israel we would still stay here again.
Note: Prices start under $300 for a basic room, then up from there. Also, there are a lot of steps and staircases here, no elevator.
Though not exactly in Israel, I had to mention this hotel in Jordan. We stayed here while touring the ancient city of Petra:
Movenpick Resort Petra, Jordan - TripAdvisor 4.5*; Wadi Mousa, P.O. Box 214, Petra, Wadi Mousa, 718101, Jordan; Phone 962 3 215 71 11; firstname.lastname@example.org
Located at the entrance to the ancient city of Petra, this modern hotel is exquisitely decorated in the oriental Middle Eastern style and features all the comforts of a high-end hotel, including 7 dining options on-site, fitness room, meeting rooms. Views of the Great Rift Valley are amazing. It's just amazing being there. We only stayed one night. The service was wonderful, we arrived past the normal dining time and the staff did somersaults to accommodate us. This is a great add-on to your vacation Israel trip.
